This is a love song to all the clients I’ve lost,

an honouring of all the ways I let you down,

a retroactive candle in the dusty dark I left you in.

Please know that I love you,

and that I always gave you everything I had to give,

and maybe at the time it wasn’t what you needed,

or wasn’t enough,

or wasn’t the right shape,

or wasn’t what was promised.

And maybe you don’t trust my word anymore,

but I promise it was all love,

and it is all love,

and it’s way over due that I thank you for believing in me,

no matter how briefly.

You gave me wings to fly with,

you taught me to trust the air and that the ground wouldn’t rise up to leave me black and blue.

Sometimes it did, but you gave me those lessons, too.

Know that I’ve shed hundreds of tears for each of you

and every challenge we were presented with,

every jagged boulder, every frozen river, every stone wall we came across,

all of it was perfect.

You helped to build me.

You helped to re-build me.

And I love you.

Thank you.

If it resonates, I’d love for you to share.
